In order to ensure extraneous production materials are not available a line clearance must be done prior to any production activities.

70% Isopropanol

The line clearance is typically established as an independent WI with general instructions about removing any materials that are not required for the current production run, and a general cleaning of the area (typically a wipe down with 70% Isopropanol, but this will vary depending on the materials, local regulations and cleaning processes appropriate for the device being manufactured).

The line clearance should be documented as part of the device history record, or DHR.

DHR Checkbox

This is typically a checkbox in the DHR with initials for verification that it was completed, although it is better to have a line clearance checklist since each aspect of the line clearance is then documented.
