What are CAPA’s?

What are CAPA’s?

Corrective and preventive actions also called CAPAs are improvements to an organization’s processes taken to eliminate causes of non-conformities or other undesirable situations.

CAPA is a concept within good manufacturing practice (GMP), and numerous ISO business standards. A corrective action is a term that encompasses the process of reacting to product problems, customer complaints or other nonconformities and fixing them. A preventive action is a process for detecting potential problems or nonconformance’s and eliminating them.

In simple terms Corrective Actions prevent a recurrence of a problem where Preventive Actions prevent problems happening in the first place.
