Good Documentation Practices – Date Format

Date Format

It is good practice to use an alphanumeric date format to eliminate confusion. You should also be aware that styles differ between the US and Europe.

A common format used is date, month, year (“DD-MON-YY”), for example: 07-Aug-15. Most organizations mandate a specific format in their documentation procedures, so be sure to adhere to your organization’s required format. This may require the company establish a documented policy and that personnel are trained on this. Whatever format is used, make sure there is no possibility for confusion.
